Many of Hollywood’s brightest stars hail from down under, and many of them also appear in news headlines on a fairly regular basis. But some of these stars haven’t been in the tabloids as much as usual. If you’re feeling a bit out of the loop on what’s happening with your most loved Australian celebrities, here’s your chance to catch up.
1. Mel Gibson
For most of his career the headlines bearing his name were positive and had to do with the movies he was in or, in the case of the acclaimed “The Passion of the Christ”, the films he was directing.
But then things took a turn for Gibson and headlines started to chatter about his drinking problem and, perhaps most memorably, his domestic violence incidents that led to the dissolution of his relationship.
Fortunately, though, Gibson is back in the headlines for better reasons and has kept a relatively clean image as of late.
Unfortunately for “Mad Max” fans, though, the latest Gibson news might still be a disappointment. Mel Gibson will not be appearing in a cameo role in the new “Mad Max” film titled “Mad Max 4: Fury Road”.
The news was revealed by film director George Miller, who was quoted as saying: “It would have been nice somehow but, no, it’s not true. Our film, luckily after a ridiculous amount of work, is testing extremely well. We’re very happy.”
The film is set to be released on May 15th, 2015, and even though Gibson is not a part of it, fans are still expected to turn out in high numbers to see the next installment in the popular series.
