Some studies say that average happy relationship lasts for about three years and that it is all downhill from there. Now, it is up to you to decide whether you will let go and enjoy the ride or you will end it all right away and nip it in the bud.
Meg and John went with the latter and they have ended their relationship as quietly as they began it.

“It was the distance. She lives in New York and he resides in Indiana. It was the long distance that ultimately was the cause,” an insider revealed for Closer Weekly.
In addition, the musician supposedly simply couldn’t accept the Megan’s popularity and he apparently struggled with the lack of precious privacy which he finds necessary for his peace of mind.
“They split a couple of weeks ago,” the source continued. “I don’t think he loved all the attention he got just from dating an actress. I bet he’ll stay away from dating another famous person for a while.”
John couldn’t stand NYC
The former couple kept a pretty low profile during their relationship. They would step out together publically for the occasional industry event and would be seen every now and then on the streets of New York, but those occasions were as rare as seeing Bigfoot. Now we know the reason.
Namely, Indiana native Mellencamp admitted he’s not fond of the Big Apple and overtly expressed his unhappiness with accepting New York City as his home.
“I’m too sensitive to live there. I can’t see poor people. I can’t see the suffering. I can’t see the trash on the streets. I don’t like all the paparazzi for Meg. I’m not leaving Indiana. I’m going to die here,” he admitted last December for Rolling Stone magazine.
