Katy Perry Sings At The White House And Let’s Her Republican Mum Meet Obama

August 1, 2014

Katy Perry

The beautiful singer had the opportunity to introduce the president to her mother about two years ago, but she said “I’ll pass”, as she wouldn’t let her republican parents attend Obama’s 2012 inauguration to watch her sing and entertain.

She apparently changed her mind the second time around.

What was the occasion?

Katty performed at the White House on Thursday at a dinner celebration honoring the 46th anniversary of the Special Olympics and its founder, Eunice Shriver, and Katty’s mum, Mary, was in attendance as well.

This is how Obama introduced the night’s musical entertainment, and it seems that the president is quite fond of the beautiful artist.
“We have just one of my favorite people performing tonight, Katy Perry. We are so grateful to her,” said Obama.

I love Katy Perry. She is just a wonderful person. I’ve just met her mum and now I know why she is such a wonderful person, but I just want everybody to know she is on tour right now and so for her to take time out to do this is really special, and so we really want to say thank you to her for doing this,” Obama added.

What actually happened two years ago?

“My parents are Republicans, and I’m not. They didn’t vote for Obama, but when I was asked to sing at the inauguration, they were like, ‘We can come.’ And I was like, ‘No, you can’t. I love you so much, but it’s a matter of principle.’ They understood, but I was like, ‘How dare you?’ in a way.”

Katy seems to be the girl who sticks to her guns even when her own parents are at stake. We respect that.
