Iggy Azalea, Sia and 5 Seconds of Summer have received not one but multiple nominations for the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards. This is certainly an incredible triumph for Aussie music.
A talented 24-year-old rapper Iggy Azalea scored astonishing seven nominations (yes, you read it right – seven nominations) for her worldwide hit “Fancy.” She was also nominated for her duet “Problem” with Ariana Grande.
The only person to have more nominations is the unbelievable Beyonce, who scored 8 nominations. Eminem managed to equal Iggy’s result earning his seven nominations.
Famous Aussie singer Sia nailed two nominations. One is for her ultimate hit “Chandelier” and a second for “Battle Cry,” which is a collaboration with Angel Haze. The good news arrive on the same day as Sia’s album “1000 Forms of Fear” hit the Number One spot on the US Billboard charts for the first time. Way to go, Sia!
Sydney’s “5 Seconds of Summer” also got nominated in the Artist to Watch category and they get to perform at the prestigious awards show alongside Usher and Ariana Grande.
